Stress can affect us in many ways: such as ourbehavior, we may begin to sleep too much or too little, eat more or less, we become nervous and sometimes isolateourselves from others. By definition, bereavement is the act of grieving due to the death of a loved one or friend. When someone loses a loved one as a result of a divorce or a relationship, this can bring up similar feelings and characteristics of a grief episode. These types of emotional hardships and grief are very different from learning to cope each day with the ultimate finality of death, therefore requiring a very different approach to healing. Bereavement faces a situation that unfortunately cannot be changed. When someone suffers from the loss of a loved one who is deceased, it becomes increasingly difficult to accept the fact that there is nothing anyone can do to bring them back.
However, loss is a part of life and it is a reality that we all must face in our daily lives. Whether it be the loss of a partner, parent, friend, child or family pet, a loss of any kind brings change and transition regardless of the type of loss. These feelings can be difficult to manage and delay the grieving process necessary to heal and move forward in your life. It is a very confusing and overwhelming time.
One of the most common models that trained bereavement counselors work with is WORDEN'S Four Tasks of Mourning:
1. To accept the reality of the loss.
2. To experience the pain of grief.
3. To adjust to a world in which the loved one is missing.
4. To invest in new roles and relationships.
Remember, whether you are visibly sad, withdrawn or difficult to read, each situation is perfectly OK and understandable. There is no right or wrong way to grieve.
As your Grief and Bereavement Counselor, I will be with you through every step, assuring you that YOU can get through your loss. I will be there with compassion and understanding. I will help YOU gain clarity and guide you to a better place. I can provide YOU with HOPE, MOTIVATION and DIRECTION to take control of your life in the new role that you inherited as a result of their loss. Together we will grow step by step through your grief and bring you to place of acceptance and peace!
Trauma challenges our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. In grief we struggle with the loss of connection or attachment. Some symptoms of trauma and grief are:
Emotionally it can create:
We sometimes look to alcohol or drugs to numb the pain. We must first acknowledge the loss in order to successfully promote the healing process.
As your Life Coach, I will provide the safety and action steps that help you move beyond the pain caused by your loss. In order to move on, we have to authentically participate with the process of bereavement. Bereavement is the period of grief and mourning after a death. Then, together we will find closure, and a level of understanding and acceptance of your trauma and grief. Once we achieve this and are in a safe place, we will move forward into a place of healing and dealing, so that we can get you back into living the inner you. I will be with you in a gentle, caring and empathetic manner and together, we will learn to let go and move on.
The loss of a pet is never easy. For most of us, our pet is part of our family. They are considered our children, companions and best friends. They not only give us unconditional love they trust in us as we do them. When they leave us, we need to journey through the grief process and sometimes it is hard to find compassion from those who don't understand. Just as any significant loss, you will experience denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Remember, these are valid feelings, that can be extremely painful. All five stages can be experienced over a period of months. Just when you think you have moved on, some of the five stages can resurface when triggered by old memories. Grief is a personal experience, but you don't have to go through it alone. Together we will move you through the cycles of grief. I will be there for you with compassion and complete understanding. Together we will find your path back to happiness.
Bullying can leave deep emotional scars that last for life. And in extreme situations, it can culminate in violent threats or someone getting seriously hurt. If you or someone you know is being bullied, there are ways to help him or her cope with it on a day-to-day basis that can lessen its lasting impact. Bullying is intentional tormenting in physical, verbal, or psychological ways. Together we will learn how to remain calm, ignore hurtful remarks, tell the bully to stop, and simply walk away. Bullies thrive on hurting others, but when YOU are strong in who YOU are there is no way they can ever hurt you again. I will be with you through every step and show you how to be stronger than the bully. Remember, one who isn't easily ruffled has a better chance of staying off a bully's radar. Together we strengthen and build your confidence so that you know YOU are the strong one and the bully really is the weak one. Bullies are often scared about something about themselves, so they try to scare others to hide their feelings or pick on others so they won't get picked on first. Bullies are unhappy and lack confidence so they take out their unhappiness and insecurities on others. Remember, It's the bullies who have the problem (NOT YOU) because they are the ones who are afraid, jealous, envious, cruel, angry, insecure, and unhappy. It's our differences that make us unique. Never let people who bully take that away from you and NEVER let someone less than you have that much power. I will be with you every step of the way as you learn to LOVE YOURSELF and be CONFIDENT in YOURSELF.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
